I grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa where I attended an all girls’ school before moving to Stellenbosch, a small town just outside of Cape Town. It was here where my passion for children and education started. I completed my Bachelors of Education along with my TEFL and Introductory Play Therapy course. Upon graduation I was offered the opportunity to work at an Early Years, Reggio Emilia inspired school. Here I was introduced to Malaguzzi’s philosophy and it changed my outlook on early childhood education.

I moved to Hong Kong in 2015 where I worked at an International Kindergarten as a Reception teacher. I feel incredibly blessed to be offered this opportunity to teach in an environment that encourages one to be, mindful of the moments while simultaneously exploring and developing.

After graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in Education and completing four years of part time practical teaching, I worked as an au pair, and as a teacher. Upon arrival in Hong Kong I have worked in Playgroups and Pre-Nursery setting, specialising working with children between two and three years old.

I have always loved working with children of all ages and I am passionate and committed to the development of the whole child. I believe children should be encouraged to be happy independent learners facilitated by teachers who encourage them to further engage and explore their world around them. I also encourage all my children to advance their vocabulary through critical literacy and daily discussions.

I plan to commence further studies in adaptive education catering for children who are gifted and also children with special needs. I feel honoured to be invited to teach at ‘Wilderness’ and look forward to working with you and your child.
