I grew up on the breathtakingly beautiful and remote north west coast of Scotland. The hills, glens, loch and rocky shore line were my daily playground. I spent many wonderful and happy hours climbing trees, crawling through bracken, running up and down the hills together with my brother and sister. My parents were both keen gardeners who grew many different flowers, fruits and vegetables. Each of us were given responsibility for our own part of the garden. The planting, weeding, watering and harvesting.
My childhood experience has made me very passionate about both protecting the environment and spending time in nature.
I have been in Education for 30 years now, firstly as an early childhood teacher and more recently as a leader in early childhood. Prior to living in Hong Kong I was both PYP Coordinator and ESL Coordinator at Dresden International School responsible for guiding quality curriculum planning, teaching, learning and assessment for children aged 3 to 11 years. I have also taught early years students in both Brunei and England.
My husband and I moved to Hong Kong ten years ago. Before joining Wilderness I was a Middle Leader at Renaissance College Hong Kong. As well as having an interest in mindfulness for my own well-being I am also a qualified trainer of mindfulness for young children in the Mindfulness Matters method.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time with my husband, hiking, cooking and traveling.
