about us
Wilderness International Kindergarten aims to provide a nurturing and secure environment in which your child can develop intellectually, socially, physically and emotionally. At Wilderness children will connect to nature every day through a balanced approach to structured learning, discovery activities, and enriching play in our own nature garden and outdoor play space.
These experiences are planned and facilitated by internationally recruited world-class early childhood educators. In addition to our special environment and designer facilities at Wilderness, it is our passionate and highly skilled educators that make our kindergarten unique. Our teachers come from around the world and facilitate an environment that is secure, nurturing and focused on delivering a holistic learning curriculum.
Every child is unique and we teach our children to respect and celebrate differences, maintain their natural curiosity and uphold their intrinsic eagerness to discover and learn.

Welcome to Wilderness International Kindergarten!
At Wilderness, we believe that all children are capable of learning, and that they thrive through a pedagogy that respects their individual development and personal interests.
Play-based education is at the heart of the Wilderness approach. We see children as capable of constructing their own learning, and our teachers act as facilitators to extend and scaffold their ideas. Through play-based learning, children develop essential skills like natural curiosity, perseverance, social interaction, communication, problem-solving, creativity, self-expression, and autonomy. This fosters a lifelong love for learning.
Our curriculum provides ample opportunities for children to connect with nature. We believe that connecting children to the environment is a fundamental human need, and each day they have time and space to bond with nature in our stunning outdoor garden.
At Wilderness, we are committed to developing happy, confident, creative, and well-functioning individuals who think critically. We empower children to make choices, fostering their executive functioning skills and preparing them for success.
We invite you to explore our website and learn more about our Wilderness community. Our staff are available to answer your questions, and we welcome you to join us for a tour and a complimentary trial.

Over the past four years, I have had the incredible privilege of witnessing the transformative power of play-based learning and the Reggio Emilia approach that has inspired us here at Wilderness International Kindergarten. Originally from the UK and having taught in Hong Kong for the last seven years, I feel fortunate to be part of such a passionate community that prioritizes students' individual needs and focuses on age-appropriate learning. Our holistic approach centres on social, emotional, and personal development, creating an environment where our young students feel safe, supported and respected. Equipped with these foundational tools, the children are able to thrive and feel well-prepared for their ongoing growth beyond our care.
Wilderness' child-led learning model alongside an evolving curriculum that adapts to the children's interests and curiosities, allows our students to take the initiative in their own educational journey by giving them the autonomy to determine their own class provocations. In doing so, they take ownership of their learning and are excited to come to school, leading to increased engagement, motivation, self-determination, self-confidence and ultimately, life-long learners
As Loris Malaguzzi aptly noted, “Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood.” This philosophy resonates deeply with me, as I have seen firsthand how young learners truly grow and flourish through play; "the highest form of research" as Einstein called it. Play is not frivolous; it is brain building for children. It creates essential neural pathways and develops vital skills such as problem-solving, collaboration and creativity. As we question, experiment and explore together here at Wilderness, each day is a rewarding and inspiring experience for both students and facilitators alike. We hope you will visit us on one of our open days soon to take a look at in action and get a taste of the magic that happens here!“Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.”
