KINDERGARTEN
Following a Reggio-Emilia inspired approach to education, we view our students as capable of constructing their own learning with the support and guidance of our educators. who take on the role of facilitators. As our students discover, explore and create they develop their independence, build friendships and learn to be active members of their community. As they mature they further develop their relationships and more complex thinking, communication and language skills.
Provocations, which expand and extend on students unique ideas and interests, are at the center of learning. We draw inspiration from units of inquiry as we explore termly transdisciplinary themes which act as a jumping off point for projects and provocations.
In addition to following an emergent curriculum, we continuously consult our own bespoke curriculum guide which draws inspiration from various international curriculums and is based on best practice in early childhood education. In this way we can ensure our students are well prepared for their next steps in learning whilst staying true to our child-led approach to education. At the end of Kindergarten our students leave confident, happy, life-long learners who are equipped with the foundational life and academic skills required to be successful in life and future learning.
English stream
Our English stream classes are run by a native English speaking teacher with the support of one of our fantastic teaching assistants. The class is run in English with 30 minutes of daily Mandarin which serves as a gentle introduction to the language through hands on and meaningful play experiences.
BILINGUAL STREAM
Children participating in the Wilderness Bilingual Kindergarten programmes will have the opportunity to develop their language in both English and Chinese. This means that in addition to the native English speaking class teacher, they will also have a native speaking Mandarin class teacher who will teach approximately half of the curriculum in Chinese. It is important to understand that our teachers are foremost, Wilderness Early Childhood Educators not simply language teachers. They will scaffold, encourage and differentiate the programme for each individual child.

School bus service will be available for Kindergarten students, subject to a minimum number of students in the same district.
